Who you’re working with

I’m Jonathan Abecassis, the owner of JA Design & Renovations. When you call, you’re speaking directly with me. I’m the person who will walk through your project with you, discuss the work, and stay responsible for it from our first conversation through completion. That’s the model: direct communication with a local contractor who can handle a broad range of residential renovation work.

My background

I didn’t take a straight path into renovation. After college and a brief period in law, I realized that design and renovation was the work I actually wanted to do. I made it my career with Suzzoni Enterprises on the French Riviera, working on projects in Monte Carlo, Cannes, Nice, and Antibes.

That experience shapes how I work today at JA Design & Renovations in Washington, DC and surrounding Maryland communities. I stay hands-on, keep you involved in each decision, help coordinate the details, source quality materials at wholesale prices, and stand behind the finished work.

How a project starts

Every project begins with a conversation and a look at the space. What do you want to change? What has to stay? What’s the rough budget, and when would you like it done? Start with a free consultation, and the decision is yours — there’s no pressure attached to it.

Why direct communication matters

With a larger company, a renovation passes through salespeople, coordinators, and project managers. Here it doesn’t. Questions get answered by the person accountable for the work, decisions get made quickly, and nothing gets lost in a handoff. If something unexpected turns up mid-project — and in renovation, sometimes it does — you hear about it directly and honestly.
